PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES:

As Chief of the Vascular Surgery Section at Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC), I accomplished the following:

  • Doubled the vascular operative caseload
  • Tripled the vascular clinic outpatient visit
  • Staffed weekly general surgery clinic
  • Directed and staffed our noninvasive vascular lab
  • Organized and administered surgical resident education including a weekly quiz, a monthly operative pig lab and regular vascular and trauma conferences
  • Co directed and staffed our surgical ICU
  • Regularly participated in Hawaii Vascular Society Meetings and several TAMC standing committees
  • Obtained additional ABS certification
  • Received the Army Achievement Medal, Nov 91

Upon finishing active duty in September 1992, I accepted a position as a salaried staff surgeon at The Caritas Carney Hospital. Here I provided general and vascular surgery and surgical critical care consultation services; staffed our vascular lab; conduct regular teaching conferences and performed various administrative duties.

In October of 1995, I embarked on a solo private practice of general surgery, which I continue to enjoy today. Direct patient care, teaching responsibilities and administrative activities continue to consume my work days.
